RTL Jobdag and Unicareers job fairs

Discover our key positions for Human Resources Manager and Quality and Sustainability Manager, as well as all other currently open positions.
Last week, SOS Kannerduerf participated in two job fairs: the RTL Jobdag and Unicareers. Two intense days indeed. Time for a brief review: Three questions for Lori Echeverria, Project Manager in the Human Resources department.
What are the strengths of these two events? Which profiles do you meet there? And if you had to describe the atmosphere at the booth in a few words or with a picture – what would it be?
The RTL Jobdag and Unicareers by MooviJob proved to be complementary. The former attracted a broad audience looking for jobs or career changes, while the latter appealed to many young graduates and students.
We spoke with very diverse profiles: educators, social workers, psychologists, administrative staff, as well as many interns in the fields of pedagogy, administration, accounting, and human resources.
The atmosphere was benevolent and engaged – both with visitors and among colleagues. Conversations about our mission were particularly enriching.
The highlights of these days were undoubtedly the diversity of the profiles and the quality of the discussions. We were fortunate to speak with both experienced professionals and students looking for their first internship – all eager to engage in the social sector.
Such moments show us how much interest our mission sparks and how valuable it is to share it.
At such fairs, things often move quickly... Is it easy to explain in a few words what the foundation does, or is it not necessary because visitors already have a clear idea?
Yes, the pace is high – no time for long speeches!
At the RTL Jobdag, it was quite easy: many candidates were already informed and knew exactly who we are.
At Unicareers, the atmosphere was different: young graduates, international profiles, and ... lots of English and Spanish!
I put my language skills to good use: "Hello, nice to meet you!", "Encantada de conocerte!"
For those who were not familiar with our mission, it was essential to get straight to the point:
Briefly explain that we support every child and young person on the path to a self-determined and fulfilling life – and mention the profiles we were looking for.
Specifically: At the RTL Jobdag, we were recruiting pedagogical staff and an HR manager. At Unicareers, the focus was on recruiting pedagogical staff. A real marathon – with lots of energy and great encounters!
Was there a lot of interest? Did you and your colleagues meet interesting candidates? Is there a typical profile? What is the conclusion?
Yes, both fairs were busy – and above all, there were many high-quality discussions. Together with my colleagues Catia and Bernd at the RTL Jobdag, as well as Mara and Magali at Unicareers, we met very different profiles: motivated young graduates, enthusiastic interns, people seeking a career change to give new meaning to their careers, and experienced professionals interested in our pedagogical positions. At RTL Jobdag, several candidates also showed real interest in HR responsibilities.
The conclusion is very positive. We come away with a pool of promising candidates, many resumes to review, and above all, the feeling of having planted valuable seeds for the future. A good mix of intensity, inspiring encounters, and collegiality!
